Todd Gipstein on assignment in Singapore

EYE of the BEHOLDER

Using photographs culled from 30 years of taking pictures around the world, Todd explores the art and artistry of photography. This show features stunning images ranging from New Zealand to Peru, Bora-Bora to the Caribbean, Venice to the Grand Canyon. Todd explores photography’s power to freeze time, capture moments in life, discover hidden worlds, and show us our world from unique and thought-provoking perspectives.

CAPTURING the WORLD: The ART of TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY

Todd has travelled the world as a photographer, producer and lecturer for 30 years. In this lecture he shares some of his best photographs from his travels, and discusses how he went about shooting them. This talk shows viewers how to interpret a scene or event with a camera to make powerful images that will capture the sense of place and the emotion of a moment. This is a talk meant to inspire and teach. Todd will show it is not enough to just look at the world as we travel, we must try to really see it: its patterns and forms, evocative moments, and symbolic details.

FACE to FACE

Over his 30 years of taking pictures, Todd has shot pictures of just about everything: nature, sports, fashion, architecture, events and places. But nothing is more challenging or rewarding than candid portraits of people he has encountered on his travels. This lecture is a portfolio of Todd’s powerful portraits from around the world, accompanied by his stories of meeting these people. Todd shares how he goes about engaging and photographing people. This talk inspires viewers to seek out and interact with strangers as they travel.

NATURE

An exploration of nature photography from what we can find in our own backyards and neighborhoods to creatures we may encounter on our travels. Todd will dicuss some of his images of flora and fauna and discuss the techniques he used to capture images of nature in the wild.
